Unless you have your ear to the ground and doing your own research, a lot of people, including possibly you, are not aware of the health hazards of VOCs...

IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT

YES, you heard me right. It's not your fault that you are not aware that numerous household products from cleaning products to wallpaper, carpets and vinyl flooring  release VOCs that pose varying level of toxicity and health risks to you in your own home. The reason why you are not aware of these hazards: EVIL CORPORATIONS and INDIFFERENT MEDIA. Most product manufacturers are allowed by law not to disclose every ingredient in their products in order protect their trade secrets. I didn't know much about this myself until a good friend was diagnosed an autoimmune condition. She got me to evaluate the products I use at home. So I delved in and started researching. The Amazing Discovery That SHOCKED Me...

What I discovered in my 16 months of research SHELL-SHOCKED me. It was as if I was grabbed by my shirt collars and sucked in by a giant tornado vortex. I can say I came with tons of information. BUT, more than that I came away with a totally different perspective about products that make their way into my home. 

A simple example of what I found out about previous opening scenario of the window cleaning product goes like this:

As you spray the window cleaning fluid, you are literally spewing ammonia and VOCs into your indoor air. And that is only the beginning!  The ammonia further degrades to form Nitrogen oxides. Wouldn’t be nice if that was the end of this sad tale? It HARDLY does... Follow me here... The Nitrogen oxides then reacts with VOCs in the presence of sunlight (unless you live underground, the sunlight always streams in) to form...get this... hazardous ground level Ozone (yes that code red days stuff the weather channel warns you about on hot summer days) At this point we are dealing with a full blown toxic brew right there in your own home. Just watch this video from CBC. This CANNOT be good for anyone living there especially children, people with compromised systems and those suffering from respiratory illness such as Asthma.

So there... this is one source of VOCs in your home: conventional glass and window cleaning solutions. There are several other sources of VOCs in your home. There are simple steps you can do to eliminate and/or reduce the concentration of this hidden hazard. That’s partly why I wrote this e-Book.
